Access and opportunity to Outward Bound learning experiences for all young people.
Ninety-percent of Outward Bound students are served through local and regional partnerships. In novel environments that are close to home, students expand their understanding of what the natural world in their own backyard can offer.
MULTIPLYING IMPACT, TOGETHER
400+ schools and community organizations multiplied their impact on young people as partners with Outward Bound.
Outward Bound is committed to providing equitable and culturally responsive programs for our students. When we work with a school or community-based program partner, they bring awareness of the strengths, needs, and cultural identities of their students to ensure that the goals of the course are relevant for them.
THE RESULTS
On 3-5 day group courses, an overwhelming percentage of students report positive change in the following skills that support them in academic success and engagement in the classroom.
“TRIO Upward Bound’s mission is to prepare low income, first generation students with the skills and preparedness to apply to college and earn a degree. Outward Bound supports this mission by helping students identify their own strengths, grow persistence and practice leadership. Students learn about themselves and peers in nature. They learn they are capable of more than they ever knew. This translates to increased confidence, persistence and lifelong social-emotional skills. Outward Bound compliments Upward Bound goals by providing an opportunity for students to explore abilities, discover new skills, reflect on their actions and set goals.”
