Jacob Lewis is an experienced print and digital media executive, entrepreneur, and startup advisor. Today, he works with a range of early-stage media and publishing companies on growth strategies, creative marketing, product management, and business development. He utilizes his experience as a successful entrepreneur and executive to help these businesses find their market.
Jacob has founded several companies, including Figment, a site for teens and young adults to create, discover, and share new reading and writing. Figment was acquired by Bertelsmann/Random House in 2013. Most recently he was the co-founder and co-CEO of Authoritive, a company which enables creators to build courses through interactive text-messaging.
Jacob began his career in media and was the Managing Editor of The New Yorker magazine—where he worked for more than twelve years—and the Publishing Director at Crown Publishing, a division of Penguin Random House.
Jacob is an avid outdoorsman, backpacker, fisherman, and skier. He is a certified wilderness EMT, and works on a ski patrol in the winter and as an EMT at a camp in the summer. Jacob earned a BA from the University of California, Santa Cruz. He lives with his wife, Kate, in Brooklyn, NY. He has two children in college.
