As we begin the New Year, we reflect upon what Outward Bound means to the over 1 million Alumni across the country and why we do what we do. We answer that question with the words of our Alumni. Simply put, Outward Bound is:
“Life-changing. Challenging. Rewarding. Life-affirming. Confidence-building. Experience of a lifetime. Educational. Amazing. Unexplainable. A journey. Everything.”
To begin our journey into 2014, we re-dedicate ourselves to our founder Kurt Hahn’s legacy and his belief that through Outward Bound, students ‘discover that they can be more and do more than they ever believed.’

We want to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting Outward Bound and our mission of changing lives through challenge and discovery. Whether you are a current or future alumni, parent or donor – you are an integral part of the work we do.
You play a vital role in Outward Bound’s ability to make a difference in the lives of so many—from inner city youth; to military veterans returning from conflict zones; to students searching for an epic experience they will remember the rest of their lives.

Students of all backgrounds and abilities are drawn to the challenge, adventure and call to service that is Outward Bound. With a strong history and a dynamic future, Outward Bound will continue to fulfill its mission and engage, support and deliver safe yet challenging programs for tens of thousands of students each year through our wilderness expeditions and in-school programs.
We aim to assure each student, parent and alumni of Outward Bound has the absolute best experience throughout the course of their relationship with Outward Bound.
